Bredon Cricket Club History

This project began as a desire to build on work of past members to research, record, develop and share the club’s history, so it is not forgotten. It was designed to record evidence, events, recollections and memories of the people and places involved in the history of Bredon Cricket Club.

Conversations with newer players revealed that many thought that the club had always been based where is today, when in fact it only moved there in the late 1980s – previous to that there were a further four places the club has called home around the village, but not all had been identified until now. Not only that but I uncovered over 40 years of additional history not previously known about.

As a timeline it is necessarily comprised of edited highlights, but hopefully paves the way for additional research which I hope to compile into a much more detailed history that traces the club’s place in the community & the people who were involved.

A Pair of Rural Cottages

One of the earliest house history projects I took on was a huge challenge - as research in rural locations often is. It nevertheless took me on a fascinating journey, inadvertently becoming a history of the development of the Eastern end of Bredon Village after the arrival of the railway in 1840.
